TO BE WORTHY OF THE TASK OF GOVERNING A MONASTERY,
THE PRIORESS MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT THE TITLE SIGNIFIES
AND ACT ACCORDINGLY. SHE IS BELIEVED TO HOLD THE

RB 2.1-2
This rite of public installation of the prioress of a monastic community is a celebration of the discernment process for leadership and of the transfer of authority within the monastic community. On June 18th, the prioress-elect accepted the responsibility of leadership. The community members pledged their support and obedience to their new prioress as well as their support and mutual obedience to one another. The monastery’s Oblates also pledged their support.
We are grateful for all who attended and continue to pray for the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago especially Sr. Joan McGlinchey, MSC. Vicar for Religious for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Thank you!
