Welcome New Prioress

Yesterday during Vespers, the St. Scholastica community blessed and installed Sister Judith Murphy as the 16th Prioress of the monastery. In an intimate ceremony, Sister Judith stood before her fellow sisters, oblates, and a small handful of family and friends who were there to witness the installation.

Sister Patricia Crowley anointed Sister Judith's hands with oil as a symbol of blessing her new role. Sister Judith was also given a copy of the Rule of Benedict, a symbolic reminder that she will lead from the heart of the Benedictine tradition.

Sisters who serve on the monastic council and in other appointed roles within the monastery stood for a blessing, as well. Included among those who stood for the blessing was Sister Mary Melady who will serve as Sub-Prioress, alongside Sister Judith. Please join us in congratulating Sister Judith on her new role by posting a message for her on our Facebook page or keeping her in your prayers as she steps into this new ministry.
